The final Mercury Retrograde of 2021 begins on September 26 in the sign of Libra.
For those of you who are unfamiliar, Mercury entered its Pre-Shadow phase on September 8, when it slows down to come to a stop, and then it appears to move backward during its actual Retrograde phase starting on the 26th.
Libra is a Cardinal Air sign, and Cardinal signs initiate. They can be dynamic energy, so we should be working on starting something. But it’s best to wait and plan things out until Mercury is done with its Retrograde cycle in October, or you might get taking back once or even twice over the coals to make things work. Honestly, it can be a big mess of misunderstandings and mistakes. But if you feel like you have to start something during Mercury’s Retro phase, then go for it! But take your time and be cautious.
Each new season of the year begins with Cardinal sign energy. So the Sun entered into the sign of Libra on September 22 and ushered in the Fall or Autumn Season, which is called the Autumn Equinox. This year the Equinox occurred right before Mercury entered its Retrograde cycle on September 26. So will be under a whole lot of Libra air energy throughout October.
Mercury in Retrograde takes us back to rethink, relearn, and re-assess our situations. And this often brings up memories from the past so that we can be quite emotional and scattered. Any pain or hurt feelings that has been suppressed or ignored may come back up! It’s important to acknowledge these feelings and work through the pain. Don’t be ashamed of your past. You’ve come a long way on your journey in life and have grown so much. The past experiences you experienced helped shape and form who you are now. So, even if they were painful, they were important lessons and should be honored. You are a powerful and wise person, so be proud of yourself!
As we prepare to move into this next phase of this Mercury in Retrograde, we can reflect and think about what we have learned. Ask yourself some important questions. Like what can you do better? What kind of life would make you more happy and free? What can you do to create a better life for yourself?
Mercury Retrograde turns our focus more inward on “self,” but in Libra, we are made to look at the people we have to choose to be in relationships with and why. Libra is an intellectual sign, and with both the Sun and Mercury under its influence, we tend to be social butterflies, so we like to mix and mingle and come out into the open again. But that’s because Libra energy is all about initiating new relationships.
It’s a time to socialize before winter comes and we are forced back indoors. This Libra energy loves connecting us to those who also seek harmony. It’s a good time to compromise and heal our relationships or find a way to walk away and let them go!
It’s a time of awakening as we have entered a New Era! Ask yourself who you want by your side? What kind of friends and partners do you want to share your life with? Libra is the psychologist of the Zodiac, and that energy can be helpful when learning how to listen and be more objective. This Libra influence helps us to be natural mediators and peacekeepers. So we’re invited to look at all sides of any given situation and work at creating balance.

But we may appear fake and superficial, especially with the Sun in Libra until the 22 and Mercury in Retrograde in Libra starting up on the 26.
