By Rubys Readings

January 30 – February 20
For All Zodiac Signs

Sometimes the Universe gives us a break, even though it doesn’t always feel that way. TheCosmos is always striving to create balance, and since much of this Mercury in Retrograde phase will spend its time in the sign of Aquarius, and will be trying to move us forward into the future and helping us make new plans and goals.

During a Mercury Retrograde phase, the Cosmos gives us a chance to slow down a bit and catch up. After all, Mercury is the planet of communication and rules over how we think and process information. It’s the fastest moving planet in our solar system, so it’s Retrograde phase slow us down mentally.

Mercury in Retrograde (Rx for short) is a Cosmic time out! It’s an opportunity to get caught up with our mental tasks so that we can unplug and unwind. It’s also a great time to stop doing so much and take fewer responsibilities or commitments. Maybe take a little vacay (but watch for traveling too far as there can be delays) and focus on reworking anything that needs to get done. Or work on projects that aren’t finished to completion. Mercury rules over our minds and thoughts, so when this fast-moving planet goes into Retrograde, we start to perceive things in a very different and unique way. Our thoughts go into a deeper underworld kind of space.

Mercury in Rx like all Retrograde planets has lessons for us. This isn’t some new Astrological fad! Planets have always gone into Retrograde cycles and will continue to appear to move backward in the future every year. Every once in a while, we get a chance to pause and take a break. To stop taking on so much from our overloaded lives. Because, let’s face it, we’re overstimulated. It’s a time to review your life and the paths you’re on to know if you’re headed in the right direction! Are you in snyc with your true soul journey? Does your life feel like you’re headed down the right path?

This Mercury in Rx cycle helps us breathe, be still, relax, and review. The main thing to understand as this energy takes hold is that it’s a time to review your life and redo anything that needs to be done. Often lovers and friends from the past show up during a Mercury in Retrograde phase but it’s just a reminder or message to heal something within your own heart and get closure if needed. In other words, these fated chance meetings happen for a reason. It’s time to research, re-think, re-visit, re-connect, and re-organize your life!

There can be positive things that come from a Mercury in Retrograde cycle. For example, throwing out old stuff that’s no longer needed or used and organizing different things in our life. Stay focused on any past opportunities and reconsider them during this cycle.

Perhaps there still an option. Try to let go of any computer glitches or electronic snafus you might be experiencing. Please don’t get angry or too frustrated, since we are easily confused and agitated.

Mercury is currently in the sign of Aquarius, so this a time of thinking and planning our future. Therefore, we will be in for some odd twists and turns along the way as we look for ways to find our freedom and independence. The sign of Aquarius is, after all, the sign of the water bearer. So it’s all about the future and being safe and secure.

If we take this cycle to learn how to stand up for ourselves and focus on what’s good for the group and be more open-minded and progressive, we can make things happen. As we go back and re-visit and revise our plans, we can make some interesting new discoveries, but we may have to feel our way through this cycle and that can be not easy with our logical mind under so much strong Aquarius energy. Remember to feel whenever you can and not overthink things.

It’s important to keep a paper trail of whatever you purchase. Mercury is known as the “trickster, ” so it likes to play tricks that make us change our minds, which confuses us. Lots of people come back around from our past including ex-lovers and friends. Mercury’s influence seems to bring these chance meetings together. But that doesn’t mean it’s fated or destined to be together. It is usually about healing.

Our focus should be on re-organizing, reviewing, and reflecting. We see the world a little differently during this time, and through these Aquarian filters, we can have some very important inner revelations. It may not be as easy to communicate under this influence, but remember not to rationalize everything. Logic is out, and intuition is in during Mercury Rx.

Mercury Rx periods can be times of heightened inner-awareness, so practicing things like meditation, keeping a journal, reworking old plans, and re-connecting to our past can be quite helpful. Mercury Rx is also a powerful time for studying, particularly for returning to old studies and re-learning or refreshing knowledge around a subject that’s already been taken or learned.

Because we perceive things differently, the truth tends to come out, and you might notice or find some detail you overlooked or didn’t catch before, which can be very helpful. This cycle can bring clarity and help you move past any restrictions or blocks standing in your way. Mercury begins retracing its steps in direct motion on February 20th.
