While the Sun is in the sign of Taurus we may feel more sensual, receptive and determined. This shift causes the energies to slow down. The Zodiac Sign of Taurus is ruled by the Goddess of Love herself, Venus, for better or worse love is the most powerful energy there is after all. So we can be fiercely passionate and emotional during this time.
Over the next month, we tend to rely on what’s always worked in the past, and what’s tried and true. But we also need to move forward with the times. This influence is about integrating tradition with evolution in our lives. One thing about Taurus energy is we feel a stronger need to be more comfortable than usual. Take some time to set up space to Zen out, get all comfy and cozy for the next month and make sure you have somewhere safe to hang out. This cycle shows us what stability and substance can look like. We seem to be drawn to more practical matters now, so there’s not a whole lot of risk-taking going on.
However, mental Mercury is still in the sign of Aries, during this time, which is more motivating, as it keeps our minds working at a faster pace. The Sun in Taurus and Mercury in Aries might be a great mix of energies. It can give us the extra boost of energy and confidence we need, but also some reasoning skills so we don’t push too much. Either way with Mercury in Aries we have more get up and go, especially physically.
Under the Sun in Taurus, we have an opportunity to explore what we truly value and who we can depend on. And bring in this a Pandemic we’ve already had some time to do a little research. So we can pay more attention to what really matters in the material world, but sync our spirituality into it. This can be a lovely combination to work on balancing our Spirit, Mind, and Body.
As the Sun moves through this sign, we get to experience what it’s like to manifest our physical reality, as the seeds we plant take root. Our determination and need for security are quite strong during this time. Taurus energy is about loyalty, being comfortable, and using what’s been tried and true in the past, as we like sticking to what’s familiar. But the Mercury in Aries energy will help us look for new beginnings as well from time to time. We value the folks who have stayed by our side in good and bad times and will honor them more so during this time.
As the Sun moves through the sign of the bull, we get the opportunity to see the beauty in life. We’re more focused on the simple pleasures in life and how to feed the senses. Our senses are aroused and highly activated, so we can have a newfound appreciation for things like food, sex, music and entertainment, beauty, and anything that feels pleasurable! Being more repetitive and open to the things that make us feel fulfilled and alive can help us better appreciate life and the world. It’s a time to pause and stop long enough to “smell the roses”, rather than be in a hurry and pass things by. Being isolated won’t feel as difficult under this energy, so staying in will actually be more welcoming.

The shadow side of Taurus energy is we can be more possessive and controlling, especially with our children and partners. We can be extremely stubborn and bullheaded, so it’s important to get out of our own way long enough and be willing to hear other people’s ideas and opinions.
While the Sun is in Taurus we should be making plans and setting goals that are built to last for the long-term. Put away something for a rainy day and for your future endeavors. This is not a good time to make life-altering decisions. Just plan for now, and maybe give it until the end of May to make your next big move. That’s when the energies will be a bit less dramatic anyway in 2020.
