On December 28th Mercury enters the sign of Capricorn and stays there through January 16th.

Mercury, the planet of communication, commerce, and travel has been in the sign of Sagittarius for the last three weeks at its detriment. The bottom line is this means while Mercury is in Sagittarius, it does not do so well. As we had less control of our mouths and impulses. This was a time of travel, exploration, and learning. But even if we didn’t get to actually go anywhere, we probably had some amazing adventures in our minds. It was a good time for meeting new people, so hopefully there were fresh new ideas gained and perspectives changed. But now a shift occurs and it’s time to make new plans and set new goals, and manifest what we want next in our life. Our goals should reflect who we are and want to become.

With Mercury in Capricorn, we tend to get more calm and quiet, and are less over the top under this energy. It’s much easier to focus and concentrate on the tasks on hand that we need to take care of. This simply is a much better position for the messenger planet, so we can get more serious about taking care of business once again.

With the planet that rules over our thinking in more systematic Capricorn, we are more focused. Our attitude tends to be more sobering and practical. It’s much easier to concentrate on what needs to get done. Our conversations are more reality-based, usually about business or practical matters. We communicate more logically, as we can be more organized and orderly. Being focused on the here and now can help us plan ahead. Communications tend to be a matter of fact, no-nonsense, and precise. But it’s important to not allow our thoughts to become too cold or rigid, or we can come across as cut off and even harsh during this cycle, when really we are just more focused on business and goals.

There’s actually a whole lot of Capricorn energy going around right now, with it being “Capricorn Season”, and there are four other planets also in the sign represented by the Sea-Goat. This energy encourages us to take life and ourselves more seriously, so it doesn’t support fantasies do much or daydreams about the future. It wants us to just get out and actually do something.

We should be as productive as possible during these cycles! It’s a good time to make out plans and get organized by writing things down, especially your goals. And talk about what you want to do with the people involved. Staying productive makes us happy and puts our minds at ease.

The sign of Capricorn is not about being overly emotional, as it has work to do. It’s about the material things here on the planet and what we value in the physical world. Our thinking tends to be more logical and practical. It may not be the best time to share feelings or for being vulnerable, as we are more concerned and focused on getting what we want and seeing actual results materialize.

It is important to take care of ourselves, and make sure we are taking some time to get away, relax and have some fun from time to time. Under all this Capricorn energy people tend to be more hard on themselves, so we can beuptight. It’s ok to rest and not be constantly doing something. Take a break!
